My doc then said to just completely stop Paxil and begin taking the Zoloft daily. By using this Site you agree to the following not working any more thinking of trying paxil. But Im not pregnant yet so stopped paxil 2 days ago and took zoloft 25mg 2nite! I am having severe nausea, but no ther side effects. We offer this Site AS IS and without any warranties. It's not used for that. You have to wean yourself of the drug slowly. dose close to paxil 20mg would be Zoloft 50mg! I went from 40 mg down to 30 for two weeks with no side effects. There are different theories on this with psychiatrists, none based on anything but anecdotal experience as far as I can tell. I researched Xanax online and saw that its horribly addictive and can cause seizures during withdrawl (ala wonderful Paxil) so I decided not to go that route. For me they were, elevated blood pressure, diabetes, hypothryroid, depression, anxiety, and I am still dealing with some of these things even after being of Paxil  for moths now. If you can handle the Paxil withdrawal, then okay. I am 2 wks into switch over, cutting back paxil weekly. Need more detail here, this is not a drug to play around with. Didn't find the answer you were looking for? I am not trying to scare you. Paxil just wasn't working out very well for me, I felt terrible all of the time so have been switched to Zoloft. MedHelp is not a medical or healthcare provider and your use of this Site does not create a doctor / patient relationship. Thanks Danielle. Please keep us informed because i will be switching soon and I want to do it the right way. Felt nauseous and anxious . There's a book called Antidepressant Survival Guide by Joseph Glanville that discusses one theory on this. I have been on Paxil for 11 years. First, are you seeing a psychiatrist or a regular doc? Yeah right.

I wish I could find that psych that prescribed it to me back when I was 16 and scream at him. As for Xanax, it is often used short-term to mitigate the symptoms of withdrawal, so that's not so strange. But I know its not gonna work fully for me, since she said my comp. And switch docs.

I have always struggled with Paxil withdrawals after just one dose ('wooshing' 'zapping' etc etc). They are not equivalent drugs; no two drugs affect a person the exact same way, and Paxil is in a class by itself. I dont know what to do I just cant live like a prisoner in my home any more and thats what the panic attacks do. Omg, I have been slowly weaning myself off Paxil which I was on for 15 years and stopped working for my OCD.

But all of these are your choice. Feel just a lil anxious so far! Don't know if it works or not. You mention PTSD, but that's not just having a bad experience and feeling bad about it, it's something different and more complex, so again, not sure exactly what you're treating and now you're adding pot to it? maybe the zoloft hasn't kicked in yet but it sure has made me anxious. Good luck. You should have tapered off the Paxil before switching, in my opinion, because when you switch, you can't tell what's a side effect of the new med and what's withdrawal effects from the old. After spending the whole day sobbing, I called my medical doctor who told me that this was a "common side effect" of switching SSRI's however my psychologist told me that bouts of incontollable crying is NOT a typical side effect and that I should dump Zoloft (after only 5 days) and switch to Effexor. None stop I'm going to get off them now but don't know exactly what to do started smoking weed again going to get my medical MJ license thinking it's the better way to go maybe. A guide to 10 common phobias. But again, given your doc's seeming lack of knowledge about withdrawal symptoms, I would find another to help you through this. I am really tired, mind is racing more. I was assured that since I was replacng 1 SSRI with another (Zoloft), that I "shouldnt have any problems". It needs to be done very slowly -- after that long it might take months and months. Whats better-Effexor or Zoloft? Klonopin is often used as well. I have only been on Zoloft so I don't know what it is like to switch mess but I do know that switching without being weaned off can have some horrible effects. Hi. Alternating meds didnt help my panic attacks at all so doc said "try Xanax". I am considering switching back to Paxil. Paxil increased my weight and blood pressure. I has insomnia BAD, dizzy, flu like symptoms and hearing white noice in my head not to mention extreme hot flashes. These simple pick-me-ups squash stress. If memory serves the usual dose is 30mg, so also not sure how you got all the way up to 40 in such a short period of time -- that usually happens when the drug starts to poop out, as these drugs can do for some people. This is a very very difficult med to stop taking and when you dropped in dose you could have gotten a bit of withdrawal from that. Subscribe to MedHelp's free newsletter for Community Support, Experience, and Guidance. Then first day down to 10 mg of Paxil upping 100 mg of Zoloft and it was horrible. Arlington, WA Again, neither Zoloft or Effexor, which is an entirely different class of medication, will necessarily do anything about your Paxil withdrawal, and sobbing is definitely a sign of ssri withdrawal.

Any suggestions? If not, the only way to stop it is to go back on it and taper more slowly.
